Seemingly aimless but in fact hungrily selective, Marcel Dzamas quirky ink-and-watercolor drawings reflect a unique passion for ambiguity. Conscientiously mined from a range of stylistic sourcesfrom Beatrix Potter to MTV, film noir to Surrealism but devoid of narrative context and stripped of philosophical pretentions, Dzama's bizarre human/animal scenarios are suffused with a radiant innocence, romantic purity, and an idiosyncratic sense of humor far removed from the ironic norm of contemporary art.
