Born in Mexico City in 1968, Eduardo Abaroa is one of the most creative artists of his generation. In his work Abaroa strategically evokes an array of popular cultural icons to illuminate the arbitrary cultural agreements under which these icons operate. By deliberately creating antifunctional objects and inserting them into functional contexts, he seeks to destabilize trusted ideological systems. This exhibition catalogue includes a survey of past work as well as work created especially for the exhibition. Essays by Fernando Castro, Patrick Charpenel, and Cuauht̩moc Medina.
