In 1993 Burt Payne 3 exhibited the contents of his CalArts graduate MFA thesis. The contents surrounded the paperwork and applications of four fictitious artists that Payne created. Payne created identities, bodies of work, and faked transcripts to complete their applications to CalArts’ highly esteemed undergraduate art program. In 1996 Payne created an exhibit of new work by these artists. Felicia Johnson was one of these artist personas and this edition was part of that exhibit.
